Scottish Bowie Knife with Antler Handle (Re-enactment, Military Dress & Bushcraft)
 
All our blades are traditionally hand forged from high carbon Sheffield Steel in our outdoor workshop. Once forging is completed, the blade goes through a heat treating and tempering cycle to give a reliable but sharp edge, adding to the authentic Scottish blacksmithing experience.
 
The design is my own interpretation of the classic American Bowie knife - a practical tool that travelled from Scotland with the early pionners. The bowie is the marriage between the Scottish Dirk and the German hunting knife. This features authentic plung lines, ricasso, and jimping along the spine. Combing these classic characteristics with modern steel technology to give a fully functional, hard working but beautiful knife.
 
The handle is crafted from sustainably sourced Red Deer antler with reclaimed whisky barrel band, acting as a hard wearing bolster and pommel. The handle is hand finished with birch oil made over the campfire in the old fashioned way, giving it a tough weather proof coating.
 
Our Bowie Knife comes with a hand stitched brown leather sheath made from high-quality UK leather. The sheath belt loop is in the classic frog style.
